"Why Is The Veteran Important?" 
Entry Deadline: October 31, 2022
Since 1947 the Voice of Democracy Contest has been the premiere scholarship program for the VFW. Every year nearly 80,000 high school students compete for more than $2 million dollars in scholarships and incentives through writing and recording an audio essay on an annual patriotic theme. 
The theme for the 2022-2023 year is "Why Is The Veteran Important?". This competition is open to 9th-12th grade students who are enrolled by the competition deadline of October 31, 2022. Students may be enrolled in public schools, private schools, or parochial schools. Home school students are also eligible. Department (State) winners receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington DC, to tour the city, be honored by the VFW and its Auxiliary, and receive their portion of $156,000 in national awards, the top scholarship being $30,000!

If you are mailing your application, please ensure to mail the application with enough time to arrive to us prior to the deadline as no applications will be accepted after midnight on October 31, 2022.
